2Pet. 1:12
So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Matt 22:37-40
Matt. 22:37 Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Fall in love with God so that it oozes out into everything we do. We must learn to stay in the presence of Jesus Christ.
We need to understand that Jesus did nothing apart from the father. We must learn from the master, he did nothing apart from God the father.
John 5:19 - The Son does nothing by himself. He can only do what he sees the father doing. What ever the father does the son does also. God the father shows the son what to do.
We need to be connected to God, an intimacy with God is what will produce fruit. Love and Obey God.
Flowing out the relationship with God will come the second part of Matthew 22 (Love our neighbor as ourself) We are unable to do this if we do not get the first part of the verse.
If we live this out at home, then it will naturally permeate all that we do. We need to understand that it happens at home.
Summary:
1. We need to continue to remind each other of the basics.
2. Basic 1: Love the Lord your God with all your heart. All other things flow from there. A person who loves God will first hear his voice and secondly obey his voice.
3. Basic 2: Loving your neighbor is a natural outgrowth of taking care of Basic 1.
4. Basic 3: Church begins at home. Learning to love God must first be imparted to our family so that it is a natural outgrowth of who your family is. We cannot export something from our home that we ourselves do not posses.
